Review # 57 Fairy Godmother Disney Cinderella Doll and Disney Store Fairy Godmother Film Collection Doll Comparison

Disney Cinderella live action movie came out in 2015 and I must say that I wasn’t very fond of it. In my opinion it was a very beautiful movie but at the same time it was a bit boring. In general Cinderella is not one of my favorite fairytale princesses because she has no personality and I don’t like the fact that she didn’t fight for herself and waited for a man to save her instead of saving herself on her own. I think that being kind and good does not mean that you have to let others push you around and do nothing about it. Standing up for yourself does not make you an unkind person. After all, you have only one life and it is up to you how you want to live it. You can choose to spend your life waiting for a fairy or a man to save you, but you can also decide to take matters into your own hands and change your life right now.

Fairy Godmother was my favorite character from the Disney Cinderella live action movie and I really wanted to get her doll. I was torn between Disney Store’s and Mattel’s version of the doll because I loved both of them and I wasn’t sure which one to get. Last Spring when I went to London I got a Fairy Godmother Film Collection doll at Disney Store and this Spring I picked up Mattel’s Fairy Godmother so now I have two of them. This is a perfect opportunity to show them side by side and do a comparison.

Mattel’s doll has short blonde hair and she is wearing a white tiara on her head. She has brown eyes, she is wearing red lipstick and she has a unique face mold that makes her look like the actress who plays Fairy
Godmother in the movie. Fairy Godmother is dressed in a beautiful shimmering and puffy ball gown with decorated bodice and white collar. She also has small fairy wings and she is holding a magic wand in her right hand. This doll is not a collector doll but she definitely looks and feels like one.

As you can see on the pictures below, the Disney Store’s Fairy Godmother is taller than the one made by Mattel. Her dress is also more movie accurate. She is more articulated and she looks a bit more like an actress who plays Fairy Godmother in the movie. Overall I think that both dolls look spectacular and I am glad to have them in my collection.
