I was skeptical about Monster High Great Scarrier Reef dolls aka Monster High mermaids from the very beginning and I still don’t like the idea of transforming MH ghouls into sea creatures. Who knows, maybe I will change my mind after watching the movie. In general I simply prefer dolls with legs. Having said that, I decided to make an exception for Posea Reef from the Down Under Ghouls doll line.
Posea Reef, along with Peri & Pearl Serpentine and Kala Mer’ri, is one of the new characters that will be introduced in the upcoming Monster High movie Great Scarrier Reef. She is the Daughter of Poseidon, the God of the Sea, which makes her a sea goddess. She is passionate about gardening and she is in charge of a magical garden under the sea.
When I saw Posea’s promo pictures for the first time, I thought that she was pretty but I was not sure about the algae-like tentacles. The more pictures showed up on the Internet, the more I liked her. To me Posea Reef is even more beautiful in person and I think that she really looks like a sea goddess.
From the waist up, I love everything about her. She has amazing face mold (I love her coral-like ears!) and gorgeous makeup, her torso and arms are covered in pearls and her color scheme is just perfect. She has long and thick hair, and fortunately there is no gel or glue in it. Her accessorries are very detailed and even though there is lot of different things going on, it somehow works.
Posea’s lower half is made of algae, in the form of algae-like tentacles, and it is decorated with corals, fish bones and other algae that glow in the dark. I like that this seaweed tail and tentacles allow the doll to stand on her own.
To sum up, I love this doll, but I think that I would love her even more if she had legs wrapped in algae or if it was possible to change her tail for legs like in case of this year’s SDCC Exclusive Whisp doll.
